Lol you go get 7 novels published and world reknowned then you can talk.
What the hell does that have to do with anything? Bad books are published. Bad films are made everyday. Are they somehow better books and films because your illegal immigrant gardener can't write a better one? No. The fact that Rowling is a an amateur that made good is completely independent of whether I can write better books or not. I don't need to be a professional film-maker to call a shit film a shit film and the same with the books. Nor do I need to be a pro in the industry to call bush league crap when I see it. And if there's a piece of information that's relevant to the character or the story, you put it in the work or at least lay hints that allow people to fairly form that conclusion. You do not tack in on as an afterthought in an interview months later. She had 7 books to lay some of this groundwork, where was it? And that folks...is amateurish.
After the crap epilogue that got even devoted fans pissy, she started adding in random shit about the future lives of the characters in interviews as well. It was annoying, clumsy, and ineffective than...its the same now.
Just to clarify, I'm not saying that the Potter books are bad. They are clumsy at points and certainly not worth all the hype (what ever is?), but tend to be fairly enjoyable reads. And while Rowling occasionally takes a literary step backwards at times, she has noticably improved as a writer since beginning the series. But she is still at heart an amateur who get lucky. And that's readily evident in these sorts of copouts.
