Anyone know of any good fictional story that is based on philosophy or similar? I never read but I've been getting the urge to get into a good book lately.

try read "Martin Eden" by Jack London
this is about philosophy , is an psihological book and the end has many thoughts about life as it is ...
i really like this story even it ends bad is a great book

Plato's Republic

Plato's 'Republic' is an excellent book. However, as you may have surmised, it is really only Plato philosophising . In any case, he treats all of the major topics in philosophy to date: religion, the role of the individual/state, education of the young, ethics, etc...

If you want a broad based book with many textual extracts of some of the greatest works around, then go for 'Western Anthologies'. That or 'A very short introduction to Philosophy' which a well writen 200-odd page book.

"Grendel" is an amazing book that details much of its plot through philosophy. It goes through at least 4-5 schools of thought, from post-mo, to existentialism, etc.
