I've read a lot of boring books before but i always feel obligated to finish a book once i start it for some reason.

I'm the same way, I don't suggest starting anything written by Steinbeck unless you want the experience and knowledge from it. Otherwise you will claw your eyes out by the time you finish it. (Exception: Of Mice and Men)

You're not supposed to read it...

Playboy is a lame magazine to be honest, although some of the comics are entertaining.

Old man and the sea.
Bartleby the Scrivener.

Its bad enough that I had to read them once, but every year of High School I ended up having to read one or both of these.

Bright Shiny Morning by James Frey, holy shit what a let down from a million little pieces. no clever dialogue, a million metaphors and all the characters development dies in the first paragraph. It made the Great Gatsby and that Western Front book i was spoon fed in high school almost bearable.

I really enjoyed the Grapes of Wrath. I didn't think it was boring at all.
The Red Pony was a decent book too.
