amigas anyone? I mean... Peter Pettigrew faked his own death why couldn't dumbledore? [ I mean he is the best wizard there is, you'd think he could be an amigias as well, for the phoneix falkes being in every book and they never really explained why dumbledore likes him so much, but Im guessing it was becase that wa his amagias ]

What better way for Dumbledore to spend all his time going after Voldemort and catching him with his guard down then being "dead" allowing snape to still look good in the eyes of voldemort and the school still be in good hands with Professor Mogonagull or whatever..

in the book did it not say that it was Fawkes? isnt that why his tomb turned white or w/e? or rather it implyed it was fawkes because he turned the tomb white. Remember dumbledore said Phoenix's have many extraordinary powers.'
