I'm bilingual in French but I never hear about any good authors so anything you could suggest?

I say no. I have not read his book's, but people have alot of different preferences. You can't just say someone is the best author because they have sold the most books. They can be your fave author, but no one person is the best. Especially at something as diverse as literature.

I've only read Shogun but I agree that It's a very good book, are his other works as good as Shogun?

OF OUR TIME, sure, you could probly pick someone based on book sales and awards

And as for George R R Martin, hell I read the first 3 books and they were pretty good, a little bit long but good. And I get to the fourth one and I can't keep reading it, nothing at all is happening, I gave up about a month ago, stopped about half way through. Fuck, the only thing I really cared about was the girl taking over the Seven Kingdoms with her dragons, but NO she just sits there in her city with her massive army of slaves. And catelyn s tark is the most annoying woman in the world, I nearly put the books down when she freed Jaime. FFS. And then she comes back to life...wtf? Arya, the other interesting character, just sits there being a monk, doing nothing except giving the reader promises of magic etc... And Brianna (whats her name?) goes on all these little side-quests throughout the book that lead to nowhere... the whole book is just her looking for sansa... and thats pretty pointless in itself. The imp was also a fun character, but damn he just disappeared with the spider and i never heard of him again....

with so many different writing style and classes i couldnt pick best writer ever.

The writers i find mazing are ones that write stories about situations that they have never themselves been in or experiences yet can bring the stroy to life and either add in so much fine detail or leave enough out to let your imagination fill n the gaps.

For me one of the biggest disapointments is reading part one of trilogy and on the 2nd book the put pictures on the main characters and they are not close to wha i imagined them looking like. kinda puts me off and i stick with my version

i think maddox is an idiot. so no. I wouldn't classify him as even a writer..
