I have finally completed the 14 book epic ( so far.. havent bought orc King yet)
Garunteed to be the best books you could read. obviously since your playing D2 you enjoi Fighting, magic and everyone running around backstabbing.
The Dark Elves are the supreme race of magic and intgriege.

edit: heres a book list for those that havent read them yet and might be interested.

I just started The orc King....

All this talk about them has gotten me interested, so I just ordered the Icewind Dale Trilogy and the Dark Elf Trilogy off of Amazon...

I just finished the Wheel of Time series, and thought that it was amazing. Do these books meet the standard I have set by reading the WoT?

aren't you forgetting the cleric quintet series and the icewind dale trilogy on that list?

Anyways, ive read the dark elf trilogy, the icewind dale trilogy and the legacy of the drow.

To be honest, the dark elf trilogy was absolutely amazing. The icewind dale trilogy was pretty good, but the legacy of the drow wasn't that great. After reading the legacy of the drow I had to put the books down because I DESPISE the cattie-brie character. I hate her so bad, reading the books is painfull. It kinda left a stain on my opinion of the books. The dark elf trilogy was the best, and sojourn was the best book. Fucking cattie brie.

RA Salvatore is more fast paced then Jordan. It takes Jordan a chapter for his character to finish eating breakfast but I still love reading WoT series. You will like Salvatore, he is incredibly detailed in his battle scenes. As for WoT I'm up to Lord of Chaos.
