Yeah, n1 comment, at least you should give some examples why do you think so. Saying something is stupid just because, is childish. In fact Stephen King is one of the best horror novelists and also a good sf writer. His books have "this thing", that sticks you to them until you finish reading last page and even after this there often comes time for some reflections.

King has one of the most vivid and prolific imaginations of any writer out there, he's comparable to Poe IMO. I especially love his dialog, seems all of his characters have witty and interesting things to say (Eddie from TDT series anyone?) Even the ones he wrote as Richard Bachman were intriguing; the Long Walk being one of my favorites.
Perhaps the best thing about King is the way 90% of his books are intertwined, all of them relating in some way shape or form to his masterpiece series, The Dark Tower. These links can be found in Black House, Salems Lot, Through the Eyes of a Dragon, The Stand, Needful Things, etc etc. He uses the phrase "Constant Reader" whenever he addresses his audience, and I love it, gives me the feeling that we are all somehow related, just as his books are.

Here are some of my personal favorites, I recommend you all check 'em out if you haven't:

The Stand
The Dark Tower Series
The Long Walk
Through the Eye of a Dragon
Bag Of Bones
Dream catcher (Fuck the movie)
Rose Red
Salem's Lot
Needful Things
Lacie's Story (Offers great insight into King himself)

Vouch all of these books although its The Eyes of the Dragon, and Dream Catcher the movie was very well done in my opinion it's one of the better book based movies.

Ah, Thanks for that title correction, it's been a long time since I read that one! *The Eyes Of the Dragon* One of the only "Fantasty" (Dragons and castles etc) That I know of King ever writing.

Dark Tower Series

The Shining

The Long Walk

I know none of you have read this one : Rage. It was from his Bachman collection. Now banned because it was related to school shootings.

I need a new book. Seeing as everyone around me is reading King I might as well give him a shot. Somebody tell me which one I need to read first.

My first one was "The Long Walk". I found it enjoyable.
