The Corpse Walker - Real Life Stories: China From the Bottom Up by Liao Yiwu.

Very intresting portrayal of a country in change. I've read better books on China, but still well written and intriguing. I'd recommend it to anyone who cares about global change and modern history with an emphazis on China.

I am legend- matheson in 1954. I saw it in a bookstore one day and started reading a couple pages. (like 40, accidentally. tongue.gif ) Good read, but then there a a few short stories afterwards which I never finished or understood connections to unsure.gif

And then also I bought and read the brisingr series just to have a valid say, and I found what I already expected. The first book had really bad pacing for the first maybe 10 chapters. By book 3, it improved, like authors do over time, but still the dialogue... god he's... not good with dialogue. I hated it when he first began to intertwine the two story-line of Roran and Eragon, because the pace was so bad, and it was such a cliffhanger. But then it improved. I was surprised he managed to keep Roran's side interesting enough, (unlike what Salvatore did with Wulfgar and colson dry.gif ). Anyway, basically the story is intriguing but the dialogue is childish, and furthermore the connections between the characters are loosening, particularly Arya and Eragon, not sure where he's going with it sleep.gif .

Sword of truth, wheel of time, discworld, are all series I hear about frequently, and like most people I fall prey to curiousity. I expect to give in soon, and find my way to a bookstore on a cloudy day. Perhaps even soon, after the Valentines relief of massive shopping (oh joy). ~

A Darkness at Sethanon by Raymond Feist. It's the fourth and final book in the Riftwar saga that he wrote and all the books were pretty good, they get better as he gradually gets better as a writer. The first book Magician: Apprentice borrows heavily from The Lord of the Rings in a few parts but he eventually creates his own world that's actually pretty involved and believable. Pretty good high fantasy reading.

I thought there were only three books in that series?

Magician/Silverthorn/Sethanon?

Magician: Apprentice, Magician: Master, Silverthorn, and Sethanon. Currently reading The Prince of Blood which happens 19 years after Sethanon and it's a great book so far as well.
