I voted Terry Brooks. I loved reading the Shannara series when I was younger, and rereading it now it still holds its own.
Tolkien is amazing too.
Robert Jordan is alright. I've read the first 6 books in the Wheel of Time series, but couldn't get myself through the 7th book, it gets a bit stagnant.

I would say my favourite of the Pern series would have 2 be The Masterharper of Pern maybe, or The White Dragon.
