not sure why they are comparing ebooks to hardcovers, considering they are far closer in price to paperbacks on the whole

Perhaps they are comparing the price of hardcover books (more expensive than paperback) to the price of an ebook?

Shoot, some of the prices are so low, I don't think it's a fair comparison. My last paperback book I bought from there was like 2.99.

I prefer the bookstore setting as well, but they're so expensive compared to online. The independent bookstore rarely lower their prices (it's because they can't afford to), and B&N is only slightly cheaper.

I should try the B&N membership/Amazon Prime, but I figured I might be better off just buying a cheap e-book reader (like the cheap nook/kindle) and pirating books on Warez haha.

B&N prices are pretty damn good, not great if you just go in,but if you have a membership, it gets better, plus if you have a membership, i probably get a 10-15% off coupon 1-2 times a month, and their sales are spectacular, I love buying $2-5 hardcovers and having them ship for free

in stores they dont have as many deals or bargain books, this is because its cheaper for them to ship any large number of bargain priced books back to a warehouse and store them there until they sell online, but you can find some pretty decent bargain prices in stores, plus members always get extra % off of books
