Prince of Nothing by R Scott Bakker
Malazan Book of the Fallen by Steven Erikson
Song of Ice and Fire by george RR Martin
The Gentleman Bastard Sequence by Scott Lynch

Those are IMO the best fantasy series you could hope to read.

R.A. Salvatore's books, or the Pern Series by Anne McCaffery. It doesnt have much violence in it, but they are still great books, low grade level. But I still had lots of fun reading them. Been trying to find some more challenging books.

A Song of Ice and Fire: George RR Martin
The Prince of Nothing: R Scott Bakker
The lies of Locke Lamorra: Scott Lynch
Malazan: Book of the Fallen: Scott Erikson

Those are the ones I can honestly recommend. I've given more in depth descriptions of them in the 2 or 3 'recommend me somthing' threads that are still probably on page one, you can check those for detailed glimpses. There are also a number of worthy stand alones in fantasy, and you shouldn't overlook the works of...

Niel Gaiman, China Mieville, Richard Morgan (so he's sci-fi, still worth reading.), and others.

And if you're looking for a laugh, "Lamb: The Gospel According to Biff, Christ's Childhood Pal" by Christopher Moore...is probably the single funniest book I've ever read.

I've officially lost all faith in this forum. Card hasn't been able to write a readable book since Speaker. Every Ender sequel got increasingly more unbearable. There's a reason he's built his entire career around that character. It was the only truly amazing book he ever wrote. And he's been milking it for years.
