There is no best writer imo, but several good ones.

How is Rowling the best writer ever just because she came up with one good idea?

Best writers ever would be people like Tolkien or Dante Aligheri. Homer is another in that category. Someone who has written something that is truly a masterpiece and not just "some book."

we have pretty similar tastes, the dark elf trilogy by salvatore, dragonlance chronicles by M weis T Hickman, Tolkien always goes up front, Rowling is phenomenal, cs lewis, david eddings, robin hobb, raymond e feist, terry goodkind.
