glad im not the only one who thought that it was a terrible way to kill off Galbatorix

And the ending between Eragon and Arya, seriously, what the fuck. Hardcore let down.

@OP - If you think Eragon is good, you really need to read better books.

Yeah ia agree
like you said before it was a terrible ending after 3 decent books

I will say I really liked Roran's character he did what he had to do to protect his family and friends but when it was all over he just wanted to go home forget about the war and raise his family

is was an unfortunate ending.. however, the 4 books had real incredible logic and detailed explainations for the decisions that were made based on that indvividuals personalitly. The ending was the logical ending. Does it really make sense for another outcome? Anyway.. once your in the "freind zone" your fucked, Eragon was too big of a sissy for arya anyway. He was incredibly self concious and kept trying and getting rejected. Arya is just waiting for someone more manly.

Honestly, it's fiction, Paolini could've removed Eragon from the friend zone. When Sapphira met Arya's dragon, they were boning from day 1.

I agree Eragon was very passive and Arya far more assertive, but still, I felt like something more could've happened. It's very sad that even after all Eragon went through he still lacked the self confidence to make a move. If those experiences didn't make him a man, nothing will.

yeah, the only explaination to why hes still not a man is he has a very very small dick.

I started reading the series since I was in 9th grade. I chose it randomly as required reading for school. I finished the fourth book and I'm now a junior in college. During that time I have picked up an interest in reading fantasy novels. I have read the Night Angel trilogy, Mistorn trilogy, the Codex Alera series, the Age of Fire series, the Iron Elves series, Legend of Drizzt series, and a couple of individual books. I've enjoyed all these series much more than I enjoyed the Inheritence series. I guess when you grow older and read more you realize the childish form of writing. Do not get me wrong though, I enjoyed the Inheritence series but I definitely notice the difference in maturity between this book and others I have read.

Inheritance is decent, but nothing more than that. There are dozens of more thrilling fantasy novels/series.

I agree with this. I started Eragon in the 7th grade or so, and then I thought it was really good. Then I read A Song of Ice and Fire, and now the Inheritance cycle doesn't even compare.
However, I actually really liked the ending. It had more to it than a generic happy ending (and after most of the book being pretty generic and predictable, it was a relief). It made more sense morally, and logically.
I don't know, the whole series too childish and predictable, but I did enjoy the more philosophical ideas he started bringing up later in the series. I think we can expect him to grow as an author and I for one, cannot wait to see what else he'll write in the future, in the same world or not.

I adored the first four, but whether it's because I've become more cynical as I've gotten older I just didn't enjoy the last episode as much as the others.

It was a bit of a disappointment for me really. Certainly, 4 books the size of the bible and he still doesn't get the girl? He's a half elf who rides a fucking dragon and he still can't do it, that's SO depressing.

It's not only that, it's also that there were countless loose ends that were never filled in or completed..

The ending was OK, but thats it. Saphira lost her role(Queen and mother of the new race of dragons). Belt Of Beloth The Wise was never found. Oromis' Sword.. what happened with that? There was a HUGE mass of energy in that sword.. Etc. Etc.

The book in general would be good for maybe an early Teen or something, since they don't analyze those points as much.. But as for most other people, it left too much unsolved and was too rushed at the end..
