Kingkiller Chronicles by Pat Rothfuss. Once you get ~200 pages in, you will not be disappointed

really? did no one say Robert Jordan Wheel Of Time?
or am i crazy

thats #2 series imo, second to Song of Ice and Fire. well at least the first 7 or so books are
then he dragged it out too much
but i love the way he had magic work in that book it gave it some rules and boundries to work within instead of just " oh yea i will just pull this random spell out of my ass and then tell you some story about how i can only do it once"

I mean, the Hobbit is a given.

Song of ice and fire is hot right now, but honestly, its barely fantasy (not in the conventional orcs/goblins/dragons sense at least).

you didnt watch the first season then
and you will want to watch season 2 ive read the books as they came out

its not loaded with the cliche stupid elves and dwafs and halfmen and all that lame shit
that kinda fantasy bothers me now that ive read so much other good fantasy

The Wheel of Time by Robert Jordan or The Deed of Paksenarrion (Three books put into one) by Elizabeth Moon, with the latter being my personal favourite fantasy book.
