The Night Angel trilogy by Brent Weeks
The Deed of Paksenarrion by Elizabeth Moon
Ranger's Apprentice series by John Flanagan

Just read The Night angel series by brent weeks = One of the best trilogies I've read in a long time.
Reading The Deed of Paksenarrion now = Slow and crap to start with, it has taken about three hundred pages or so to actually get going.
Not read the other one. I might give it a try ^_^

+1 for the Death Gate Cycle

Also The Malazan Book of the Fallen is the greatest fantasy series I have ever read (and I've read several of the suggestions).

Lots of good series mentioned...the dragonlance books were amazing...Wheel of Time is one of my favorite series and I've read 1-11 5 times and 12 and 13 4 times each...they are SO GOOD.

Dragon Riders of Pern...MonsterBlood Tattoo The Foundling series was good...um..Lone drow series was awesome..so was the split off with Entrerei and Jarlaxle..I just finished the three books in the Daughter of the Blood series..and that was insanely good.

The Ender books are good..although I prefer Bean to Ender. Eragon ofc...All of the Shanarra books by Terry Brooks

And the last one I'll add cus I gtg is the Anne Rice vampire series.

R.A. Salvatore's books are all great. He's got a series that spans 20 books, all centering on a Dark Elf named Drizzt. Check it out.

Another is Brandon Sanderson, and his Mistborn series.

annnddddd

Gail Z. Martin. The Chronicles of the Necromancer. (This part of the series is complete, but she's still adding to a secondary series branching off this one)

If you are looking to get into a lengthy series, the "Wheel of Time Series" by Robert Jordan. There's a bunch, like 10+ but they are good for sure. I made it to like book 8 and started getting distracted.

My favorite series ever is the "Song of Ice and Fire" by George R. R. Martin. I must warn you though, after reading these, all other books will seem sub-par in comparison.

Lastly, I suggest the "Harry Potter" series. I'll prolly get flamed for suggesting it but it's really quite great. I listen to all 7 of them every year on my ipod.

The genre that all of these fall under is 'Epic Fantasy', if you ever need to find more.
