Ones I've read or I am reading are...
R.A. Salvatore
Ed Greenwood
Ted Dekker
John Flanagan
Terry Brooks

If you can't think of an author, but have a book in mind, post it please? :D
(books that are a series are preferred)

theres a lot of books to explore my salvatore...brooks as well, both have to have several dozen books each, in multiple series'

theres also Terry Goodkind, Robert Jordan, Christopher Paolini, and more i cant think of, but look for the Deverry cycle too, and golden compass/percy jackson both have very good story lines, if on the really easy to read side of things

Jim Butcher

He has two series: Codex Alera (was very good, gets better after book 1) and Dresdren Files (currently reading).

Also I would check out the Night Angel Trilogy.

Robert Jordan with The Wheel of Time I guess you have read?
Elizabeth Moon with The Deeds of Paksenarrion
J. V. Jones with Sword of Shadows
Brent Weeks with The Night Angel trilogy

David Gemmell is an amazing author, definitely one of my favorite, especially his Drenai series.
David Eddings I asume you've heard bout at least? Otherwise try his Redemption of Althalus, hilarious read.
Raymond E. Feist with his Riftwar Cycle, really good books expanding over decades.

And as Drow said before, Mistborn is spectacular, just finished it some days ago and daaaarn!

Erikson, Bakker, Martin, Abercrombie, Lynch.

All worth picking up.

you can try "Witch and wizard" series, by James Patterson.
8-9/10 imo.
