If you like Sci-fi, have you looked into the Ender's Game series? Alway's thought those were good books.

This doesn't fit what you want, an amazing book nonetheless.
A Prayer for Owen Meany by John Irving.
Definitely one of the greatest books I've ever read, says a lot about religion, society and the antihero/tragic hero.

Got alot of really good reviews, and found in the scifi, fantasy section of your book store.
