I read the first few awhile back.
I recall the series going downhill; the main characters became stale and uninteresting imo.

they usually do in a long, multi part series, its why trilogies are so popular, the trick is to read them a few at a time, then move to something else, im currently in the middle of no less than 5 different series', if you keep swapping, the books never get old, and you dont get bored wiith one writing style

Yeah. Jordan got real lazy towards the end. I remember enjoying the first three, but after that, it just seemed that he used the same plot diagram in every novel, and it got rather boring.

Then he died.

ye, jordan is dead and before he died he told his children how the story would end. They are now writing the line to an end of some sort.
I liked the first books very much, but didnt get the others, because they had the first ones in the library and i didnt wanna buy all 30+ books.

Ehm, this is not true... He left his notes and the draft for his 12th book with his wife who chose Brandon Sanderson as the author to finish Jordan's work - who I think did a good job with the Gathering Storm at least.

There're 12 now, will be 14 in total

Also, this is the best fantasy series I've read.

Turned him whiny instead of funny

Maybe him now actually being a lord has something to do with it lol? :P

I've read up to book 11, right now I'm working on buying the whole series. I have up to the sixth book and I plan to get the others but I end up buying other books.

They're quite good easily worth the 10 buck or so per book.
