because some people have this thing called an imagination, ever time you sit down to watch spongebob squarepants im sure your more entertained, since they take care of any imagination or brain work for you, so all you have to do is sit there and drool

but intelligent people can read a book, and get FAR more from any book in the way of storyline, character development, and setting than you would with ANY movie based off that book

now, leave the intelligent people alone, go play your runescape and watch your dora

how dare you

There's basically two main points:

Entertainment
- Some people enjoy watching TV, some people enjoy browsing the internet, some people enjoy playing sports, and some people enjoy reading books.

Makes you smarter
- Don't really have to explain this much, it's common sense that reading will make you focus more, increase vocabulary, and ultimately increase your knowledge. It broadens your mind in so many ways.

I know it's hard nowadays with so many hindrances to sit down and read a novel, but it's all about personal interest. Find something that interests you and read about it, remember it doesn't have to be a novel. Blogs, magazines, journals, biographies, ect

Side note: Reading is one of the recommended activities to help prevent Alzheimer's and other types of dementia.

I dont play runescape or watch television.

I just think looking at text for hours is a very POOR way to spend time to say the least

So it's better to spend it playing WoW, flying ~40 min to just get to another place?

Really lolld at this thread ^_^

yes, wow is the greatest game ever created, the grinding and all that other shit is lame, but its just part of the process to hit 80 and pvp which is the best part of the game.

this is funny because the OP made a topic in the comp forum about how his dad cut his ribbon cable for his IDE harddrive citing "you dont need this"

intelligence must run in the family

I don't understand how ppl can be entertained by books, like... my brother was telling me how he read some book and how he thought it was epic and the best book he has ever read.

I couldnt help but laugh at the poor guy, how can u be entertaind by sitting in ur room for like 5 hours a day for like 2 weeks, staring at some text, who would wanna spend their precious time doing somthing stupid like that?

And whats even more strange to me.. is the fact that ppl keep books and read them more then once? wtf? , whats the point of reading a book more then once, thats prolly the lamest thing ive ever heard.

some ppl are entertained so easily, they could prolly watch paint dry and be excited.

I have no idea how that really differs from sitting on JSP. -_-
