I doubt it will even touch the original... even if it does I highly doubt I will be interested enough to read it. Read to many books that are just like it and seen to many movies with same style...

finished the hobbit, it was good enuf to read rite thru
started reading lotr series (b4 movies) and it just DRAGS on so much, only just barely got thru the party chapter at the start
lost it with the whole nature spirit guy in the forest

he was more of a historian than a writer, documenting his ideas of aworld rather than creating a story. not saying it aint goo dtho, look at the movies and world it has created - u just cant read the books as entertainment is all wink.gif

Sure it was good, but at some points the story simply dragged on and on. I also find that when someone finishes the work of another author, it invariably isn't as good/great as it could/would have been had the author him/herself finished it .

"No" is my vote, though I hope to be pleasantly surprised .</DIV>

Lol, I guess you've never read WoT then. Now that has too much detail for minor things, like porcelain cups and so on. >_> But it's not like Christopher is just making things up. He's using his fathers notes to create the book. But ty for voting anyways. XD If people are going to vote no, can you say why? Raven did a good job at saying why he doesn't think it will be that good.

LOTR is great. This includes the Hobbit.
Sadly, Tolken can't be replaced no matter how alike the bloodline.
I'm afraid everyone's different... take yourself for example.... would you say you've got the same writing style as your parents? And you prolly wouldn'y want to either.
I'm worried this will flop. Trying to upstage his father, trying to be his father, whatever... even with his father's notes, it won't be the same. Everyone's takes a different spin on things.
And a serious question... why, if it's worth it, didn't daddy put it out years ago?
