Duh, everyone knows that. The only people who don't like Harry Potter are the people who haven't read it.

Vouch on the Salvatore, Jordan, and George R.R. Martin recommendations.

I'm into the fourth book on the Ice and Fire set, and it's pretty amazing, but hasn't held me in as much as Wheel of Time or Sword of Truth (Terry Goodkind) series.

Basically, you'll be set for a month+ depending on how fast/much you read if you decide on Wheel of Time or Sword of Truth.. both are gigantic series with 11~ish 900+ page books.

Dune by Frank Herbert

it's been made into a movie and it's sci-fi but it's pure gold

Skip Salvatore and Feist, they're shit.

Bakker's Prince of Nothing trilogy.
Erikson's Malazan book of the Fallen series.
Martin's Song of Ice and Fire.
Morgan's A land Fit for Heroes.
Lynch's Gentleman Bastard series.
Abercrombie's First Law trilogy.

Bakker's basically a fantasy version of Dune, but Dune's still worth reading, as is Morgan's Takeshi Kovacs stuff.

No, Salvatore sucks dick, it's only worth reading if you're 10 years old, anyone older should go for something better.
