Boring book in my opinion, forced to read it because it's assigned. So, has anyone read this book....discuss

Meh, after reading the "On the Road" thread, I half expected this. Even so, it still made me unhappy to read what you wrote here. :[

I remember the first time reading the book, about 5 months ago during school as well; I hated it.

I had to find themes and a whole lot of pointless things that I wouldn't need to know later on.

I re-read it a month or so ago and loved it. I find it humorous how human behavior really works. They're living in the roaring twenties, a prosperous time, yet their morals fade and they just live a lie.

Read it junior year as requirement. Was ok, I didn't mind reading it, say as much as SCARLETT LETTER. That was torture.

Same thought on Catcher in the Rye. But I am very tempted to re-read these and probably have some mind to actually appreciate them.

i thought it was a wonderful book. Fitzgerald is an amazing classic American author... maybe when you're older.
