Are you looking for a classic? "Of Mice and Men" by John Steinbeck is a really easy read. You might also want to look up Gabriel Garcia Marquez's book 100 Years of Solitude. Fascinating language, wonderful story.

If it needn't be a classic; "Naive. Super" by norwegian author Erlend Loe. Humerous portrayal of the lack of meaning, and following angst, in the life of a modern man in his late 20s.

Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card, gets a little political but a great read regardless. Lots of action and an excellent science fiction story.

The Harry Potter books are really good if you haven't read them. Otherwise, some other simple reads:

The Outsiders
Of Mice and Men
The Ear, the Eye and the Arm
Redwall

The Outsiders is a really, really easy read and it's a very good book.
