yes, i know. she writes children books...
this one is more for teenagers though.
just because it was targeted for young audiences doesn't mean it's bad...

Agreed - I read this about 10 years ago, but I still remember how much I loved it. It really brought about a love for dystopian sci-fi that I've held on to quite well. Any Giver fans should check out the classic stories that it borrows so much from - 1984, Fahrenheit 451, Brave New World, The Anthem, etc. All excellent books that make you want to go overthrow some commies.

What a fucking moron. Guess your fg does not make up for how stupid you are. /Rage.

Anyway everyone has read The Giver. Even potheads have read The Giver, it's that junior high school book that everyone has read and no one remembers.

Obviously this isn't true. Everyone in this thread seems to remember the book. I read it in seventh grade also: loved it then, love it now.

I never had to read it for school, I just read it on my own accord... but yes this book turned me onto the dystopian genre.

What I meant is, people remember it, but only that it was a really good book and that the general theme was focused around utopia. If they remember it detail for detail that would be pretty impressive.
