I'd just read the Sparknotes. It's a classic book only because it was original and edgy at the time to write about segregation and racism, but now it's just like a lot of other books. The Sparknotes will give you the plot and the ideas behind it and should be adequate for any tests.

don't worry, i used sparknotes on all the books that i didn't feel like reading

lmao this is exactly what i do. My class was on chapter 12 and i was on chapter 3....read the sparks notes, got done reading all the sumery of the chapters had a quiz the next day and past.

I just find the book not to be interesting, it just seems rather boring, not my kind of book but thank god for sparks notes.
