Wasn't there a CCG based around these novels?

I'd concur with alot of the criticism of book 4. I wasn't a fan. That said, Martin is amongst the most skilled writers and storytellers in the genre, so even a subpar book from him is a comparative treat.

Storm of Swords was still one of the best books I've ever read in or out of the genre and the first two were great as well. So I'm not about to beat up on Martin for 1 lower quality book.

With all the criticism towards the 4th book you should keep in mind he started off intending for 4th+5th to be one book but it got too large. Really is a setup towards the 5th, A Dance With Dragons that im looking forward to. Not enough Jon Snow in the 4th. Song of Ice and Fire ftw

I'm just finishing up the 3rd book now. It's definitely been a great read thus far, and even though a couple people have said the 4th book isn't as good, I'm not worried about it smile.gif

With most fantasy books I've read there are usually between 2-3 different plots going on at any given time, with 1 of them usually a bit lackluster when compared to the main plot(s). With a Song of Ice and Fire I find myself enjoying each of the many different plots immensely, and I'm not having that "Ugh, not a chapter about blah blah blah I can't wait til it gets back to blah blah blah" mentality, which is quite refreshing.

Amazing read overall.

Oh man, I love the first book. Towards the end there, like someone said, I felt like someone hit me across the face with a 2x4 and then beat me for hours. I still loved it. I'm currently working on the 2nd book right now-- I'm about 100 pages in. Looking forward to finishing what's released of the series so far.

I agree completely, although when a chapter ends I find myself wishing there was more to it right then and there rather than having to wait to find out what happens.

yea cash, actually the best fantasy series I've ever read. and I've been reading sci-fi fantasy novels and series for well over a decade.

It's a very grown up and mature kind of novel, and grrm writes in such a way that you always stay interested, there's really no slow or boring parts because you get to see and think about all the different points of view and how to one person someone is evil, but from the opposite pov it's the other way around etc.

good choice and such etc. lemme know how it's coming biggrin.gif
