1984 is an awesome book.

I have to admit I thought it a dense read at first, but it got better and better.

You should check out his other work, Animal Farm, it's the same concepts, but in a totally different setting. 1984 > Animal Farm by a mile though.

I read it around 4 years ago and it's still my favorite book of all time. No other book with a dystopia as a theme comes close (like Brave New World or Anthem) to the amazing ideas and concepts presented in this book.

George Orwell is an strange man I read most of his items and own an synopsis of his life its quite interesting. If you crave books like 1984 then check out some of Bret Easton Ellis its an modern spin to some political agendas and is down right cynical.

1984 is a great book. That book opened up my eyes to a lot of things I never knew about. Very captivating book.

I think someone mentioned Heart of Darkness by Condra, thats a very good read as well. If your going to read Heart of Darkness might as well read Lord Jim by Conrad, another great book about human nature.

Edit: Anyone read V - Thomas Pynchon yet? I saw someone spoke about it up there.

BB represents communinsm, so obviously NK will have stunning similarities.

Its an OK book, interesting, eye-opening, but not thrilling or captivating for me.

BB represents totalitarianism, not communism. Communism in it's utopian fundaments has nothing in common with the one that was in the USSR before 1990 or the one in NK.

To make things clear - I hate communism like every other socialistic ideology. I just wanted to fix this essential error in your post.
