I want to read some sci-fi books. I've not really read any, this is a new genre to me. Thanks for your suggestions!

*I feel like I need to clarify, I don't want fantasy. Often, scifi and fantasy are put together, but I'm tired of fantasy...

Thanks again!

/e I read Slaughter-House Five by Vonnegut, and liked it fairly well. I guess that's considered scifi, though I thought it was just weird.

The Martian Chronicles, Dune, Ender's Game, The White Mountains, Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, & 2001, a Space Odyssey are all books I enjoyed and prolly good places to start, depending on your preferences. lmk if you want a synopsis of any

edit: Slaughterhouse Five is a pretty shaky way to start reading sci-fi. I would barely consider it sci-fi or even a novel as much as an art for its own sake. One thing is does share with a lot of sci-fi though is an otherwordly social commentary. If you liked that, you might like sci-fi a lot.

Yeah, Slaughter House Five was a really weird book, but if I had to put it in a genre, I would probably say sci-fi...

The Langoliers or anything by Stephen King.

Goosebumps is also a nice series.

Arthur C Clarke, Isaac Asimov, Jack McDevitt, Phillip K Dick are some of my favorite science fiction writers. Rendezvous with Rama and The Songs of Distant Earth are my favorite from Arthur c Clarke, Foundation from Asimov, and Engines of God by Mcdevitt

there's a lot of Manga in that genre if you're into that kind of thing. One Piece, Fairy Tail, Code Geass, Death Note, etc.

I'm not really into reading manga, and isn't one piece more fantasy than science fiction?
