Just finished the series up to date with the 5TH book, A Dance of Dragons.

The next books should be pretty action packed, hopefully as good as the third book (which was my favorite).

It was pretty clear (at first) that Jon died at the end. But after thinking a bit, maybe his consciousness will flow into Ghost since Jon is a "skinchanger." The future books will venture further north than we have yet read, and who is going to do that if not Jon?

Daenerys i'm hoping will just utter her flame breath command so her dragon will roast jhogo and mogo and crew who she swore she'd annihilate for raping and killing that girl she saved before.

2 major battles coming up early in the next book. These books will be like 30% longer than previous ones. I am excited though it will be a few years before they are out.

I have half a mind to read the first book again and maybe the second, to refresh myself. It's been a year since I read those two.

Any thoughts?

You may want to venture out into A song of ice and fire forums if you really wanna delve into this series. There are tons of different ideas about jon and everyone else in the book. He may simply be dead, he may have warged into ghost, he may be in ghost and waiting to be resurrected by melisandre, he may not be Ned's son at all and actually Lyanna Stark and Rhaegars son, etc. I'll be pretty disappointed if he doesn't play a big role in the overall outcome of the series.

My guess Jon did die, but that Melisandre can repair Jon the same way that Thoros repaired Dondarrion like six times. They are both red priests after all. The Night's Watch men seemed intent on killing Jon, not just maim him like the Hound did to Arya outside the Red Wedding.

The Bolton wedding will be so good.

“My son Wendel came to the Twins a guest. He ate Lord Walder’s bread and salt and hung his sword upon the wall to feast with friends. And they murdered him. Murdered, I say, and may the Freys choke upon their fables. I drink with Jared, jape with Symond, promise Rhaegar the hand of my own beloved granddaughter… but never think that means I have forgotten. The north remembers, Lord Davos. The north remembers, and the mummer’s farce is almost done.”

Freys and Boltons going to see that what comes around, goes around.

Didn't george martin say this thing in a n interview that jon's destiny will be star wars-like? So yeah, I guess the theory with not being a Stark at all to be true.

Tyrion, Daenerys and Jon each get a dragon! (:

the quote I heard was that Alfie Allen (actor who plays Theon) asked George who Jon's mother was and George told him. Then Alfie was being interviewed and he said that Jon's heritage was "a Luke Skywalker situation". This could have a few different implications, all we know is that it is important.

And just because Jon gets a dragon that doesn't mean he isn't a Stark. He is almost certainly a Stark.

a lit of theories point to neds sister being the mother of Jon snow, with Aegon targaryon as the father. Check the asoiaf forums. Some great detail from fans with the hints throughout the novels.
