Okay so basically, I love to read over the summer. Usually I just re-read old books of mine and never read anything new, but this year I want to try something different. I want a couple new books/series to read. I am figuring I can read at least 5 or so books this summer. I will list some of the books I enjoyed in the past, and some ideas that I think I would enjoy. And please don't make fun of the books I list lol I am 19 but have never really read an "adult" book. So here is the list:

Harry Potter Series
Eragon, Eldest, Brisingr
Bartamaeus Trilogy (might have to look this up lol)
Chronicles of Narnia
Prydain Chronicles (Black Cauldron, High King, Book of Five, etc.)
Artemus Fowl Series
I have also read a couple philosophy books by Aristotle and Socrates that I enjoyed (Nicomachean Ethics, Credo, Apology)
I also enjoy watching things on the history channel about our government and huge events/scandals (9/11, JFK, Watergate) and stuff not having to do with government (Predicting future, space, huge world phenomena)
I do enjoy watching sports too, and a couple books looked interesting to me. But sports books just seem boring to me, idk why.

So based on these books, you can see I enjoy a lot of fantasy/medieval fiction. Before you suggest the Robert Jordan series on me, I have heard of it, and think that I don't have enough time to read through the series, or even make a dent. So, I am looking for a series that is shorter, or a bunch of books. Also, even though I talked about enjoying some non-fiction, I am pretty biased towards fiction. I just enjoy it a lot more.

So any recommendations are welcome! Thank you in advanced!!

Read the following...

Fear And Loathing In Las Vegas - Hunter S. Thompson
The Great Shark Hunt - Hunter S. Thompson
The Proud Highway - Hunter S. Thomspon
Better Than Sex - Hunter S. Thompson
The Rum Diaries - Hunter S. Thompson
Fear And Loathing: On The Campaign Trail '72 - Hunter S. Thompson

TiHKAL - Alexander & Ann Shulgin
PiHKAL - Alexander & Ann Shulgin

Heroin Diaries - Nikki Sixx (This one is alright)

The rest are what I have been reading for the past year. Very good reading, mostly older stuff.
I suggest you start with Fear And Loathing In Las Vegas (The first listed one) if you decide on Hunter S. Thompson's (This seems to be what gets people into his work)
Also, you can watch the movie first if you'd like (I don't recommend it, but it's hard to get what he is explaining unless you can visualize it well) (This stars: Johnny Depp & Benicio Del Toro)
also, if you watch and read Thompson's work then I suggest another movie based off of his Crazy Tales and that's: Where The Buffalo Roam (With: Peter Boyle & Bill Murray)

One series that hasn't been stated yet thats a good read is the, "Ice and Fire" series that has been adapted to the HBO series Game of Thrones. It's one of the biggest medieval//fantasy series' atm that hasn't been completed yet. Also oneof the next books I'm looking forward too is "Revan" if your a fan of the KotOR Xbox game.
