I like sci-fi/fantasy books but I also enjoyed all Dan Brown's books that I've read so far.
Been looking around and most sci-fi/fantasy recommendation threads are series with like 10+ books... I would prefer shorter ones like LOTR with 3 books. (I know they got more, but they got three main ones).

Any suggestions?

Eragon has 3 books and will total 4 with the release of the last

other than that, most scifi books can be broken into trilogys, such as Paths to Darkness, The Lone Drow, ETC, by R.A. Salvatore, i think "The Highwayman" is set to be 3-4 books in the end as well

No worries, I hope by now that the U.S. has withdrawn their soldiers and stopped bombing them.

Cool, will google their names :)

e: however I gotta admit, after watching the Eragon movie I didn't get the best first impression of that series :(

Really, if you are going to Vietnam, you should read "The Things They Carried" by Tim O'Brien.

The movie did not do justice for that book, it was so bad. The books are 10x better. Not sure if you read the Ender series, but they are quite good

What is that, a war book? I haven't read that kind of book before, who knows I might try it out one day ^^

Yeah I know, it's usually like that unfortunately. Haven't read 'em, but will check it out! Tbh I haven't read that much, only read like HP 1-7, LOTR 1-3, 3-4 Dan Brown books and like 10 other books that I either got from school or picked up randomly :P

You have a lot of reading ahead of you. Terry Goodkind's Sword of Truth series is pretty good too, the tv series sucked so bad though.

neveer judge a book by its movie, because the movie, 9 times out or 10, completely sucks compared to the book

same with TV series, Sword of Truth is an amazing book series, TV series? sucks ass
