Currently reading: Fulgrim, by Graham McNeill.

I could use some suggestions on my next read. I enjoy sci-fi war novels (wh40k) or epic, well written works that cannot be described with mere words (dune)
More of the war stories of the future, less SW episode 3 "ZOMG I HAS BABY" drama.

The Xeelee sequence novels or Destiny's Children series (both by Stephan Baxter). Both series describe the same conflict, however I felt the second was more character driven then the first. Not that Baxter writes very compelling characters anyway, but the war itself is on an epic scale, and the Xeelee would make 99% of other sci-fi races curl up in a collective ball and weep at the mere thought of fighting them. Ya I love them almost as much as 2d girls LOL. Baxter also has some other books out, including an interesting one on human evolution, and a very well written sequel to The Time Machine.

Also the Culture series by Iain Banks is quite good, though I've only read the first book so far.

Need more.
Attempts to find cheap bookstore are still proving fruitless, thus I'll be adding more to my shopping list until then.

Check out "Roadside Picnic" by Arkady and Boriss Strugatsky if you haven't read it yet.

I greatly second. Perhaps one of my favorite novels I read. There are topics like war in it.
