Anything in the Xeelee sequence or Destiny's Children (only the second one Exultant really, but the others are a good read) by Stephan Baxter.

start with the 1st book Dune by Frank Herbert

Giganormous space battles , Highly evolved humans , Giant worms !!! and of course The Kwizatz Haderach ( several of them actually )

fahrenheit 451 is really good.

check out philip k. dick for some relevant and philosophical science fiction.

"solaris" from stanislew lem is amazing too
