Wheel of Time by Robert Jordan(currently 11 books but author died and 12th is being done by someone else) Awesome series but becomes quite political after the 5th book to a point where the story doesnt progress much each book because so many characters get involved! Quite the read though if you can keep up with it biggrin.gif Amazingly written (all details described to their entirety - highly suggest you dont skim read during them like i did my first time because you'll miss alot) You wont be able to put the first book down (if you've read the da vinci code you know what i mean smile.gif )

Sword of Truth by Terry Goodkind(11 books I think, all complete) My only beef with this series is that magic is not fully explained sad.gif Very mature series (I dont think any sex is described but all the events leading up to it is described like a romance novel! - foreplay smile.gif ) Sometimes a bit repetitive but still epic. Wheel of Time was better imo but definetely worth the read if you find Wheel of Time too much

Both are fantasy genre and should last you until next year laugh.gif

LOTR books are a fairly obvious choice,

and moving away from the fantasy style books,

The jack higgins book which star Sean Dillon as the main character are amazing.

vouch this.

I've also found RA Salvatore and Raymond Feist to be quite good.

The Obsidian Trilogy - I just finished book 2 and it is a decent read.
The first 3 books of the Sword of Truth series is a good read as well. Can't say too much for the books after that.

He has already read them.

No point recommending a book he has already read.
