Hey guys I'm going on vacation here in February I really need some help finding a decent quality camera that can go snorkeling with me a couple hours at a time. Won't be going deeper than 10 feet or anything.

Prefer it to cost under $400 US. Any sort of help or directions would be really appreciated! Feel free to post here or simply pm me. I know a bit about technology but just the ability to read a spec sheet doesn't show me everything i need.

Consider a GoPro with the diving accessories.

Otherwise, I'm not sure what underwater cameras would be good that cost under $400. You might want to compare reviews (up-to-date reviews), Google helps a ton. It's a long-shot, maybe someone here has bought a waterproof camera in the last few months.

Yah a buddy that's going is snagging the go pro. I'm going to maybe get the Olympus tg-3 or Nikon AW120.

I'm good with technology usually but that's what makes me realize that the spec sheet doesnt give the whole story because like TVs 120hz Samsung isn't the same as 120hz Sharp. I just wonder what brands should I really trust for quality.

Yep. Exactly right about specs. When it comes to a camera, there's too much that matters. But if you're on a budget, it really comes down to whatever us best-reviewed. If you were sending more, not going underwater and looking at a DSLR, I could help a whole lot more.

Definitely look into that, that's kind of what I'm searching for in a way.

GoPro is already bought by a friend and he will be using that I need something for actual pictures now haha. Something I can use to take pictures like a regular camera but just in case is also water proof.
