Hi all...wife's 60D is giving error 05 with the pop up flash, I took it apart and cleaned and put some wd40 on the screws, didn't fix the problem. The camera is still covered until 2016, but wife doesn't want to send it in right now, and tbh the pop up isn't that great anyway. So what is a decent sub $150 external flash? I am looking at a 430EX II but don't know if I can spend that much right now, so to fill the gap was looking at some off brand ones, and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions ore experience with some that they could recommend.

What about a Voeloon V190? Also found a Yongnuo YN-565 EX and a few sites that say it's pretty good over all...anyone use that one?

If you are planning on buying multiple flash setup, you could buy a cheaper flash now and then buy some more expensive flash later that has slave capability. I dunno what cheap flashes are good to buy nowadays, but google all flash models that you could buy and im sure you can find some reviews on them, and if you cant, dont buy the flash because its probably total crap.

do you need ttl?

Just got the Yongnuo YN-565 EX... It's at the post office waiting for me we'll see how it turns out lol..

you should have a fun time they are great cheap flashes, most are canon clones too for like 1/5 of the price
