Anyone here have any suggestions to eliminate noise when shooting concerts? Normally they are very low light, and the only light is being projected from LED's.
I have been getting noise, shooting both the D-300 and the D-3200 with either a 70-300 on the D-300 and a 55-200mm on the D-3200.

I was shooting anywhere between 1/250-800 between f/4 and f/5.6 as well as an iso of between 1600 and HI-1. I did not set an exposure compensation and
I was shooting in NEF. Active D-Lighting was on, and the light balance was set for both daylight and auto with no success.

His gear also doesn't support f2.8... 70-300 & 55-200 don't.

I read an article/blog or something where the guy says you can shoot at iso 100 and have flawless photos, in terms of noise. Basically time the shots. If you are familiar with music and the way the lighting guys time the lights and effects to song points, crescendo etc, the stage will be well lit. This can pretty easily be done with an f/28 on FF.

you get noise because you shoot at 1600 iso -hi-1 (which is 3200 i think).

unfortunately, the only real way to combat graininess at high iso in low light is to get a better camera.

you can also try opening up your aperature to maybe f/2-f/3 and drop the shutter speed to maybe 1/125 and then you can drop the iso.

Ive shot black and white 400 iso film at 1/60 with a f/2.8 and I got some decent photos. Still grainy cuz of the nature of film but with a digital (especially a d300) you should not have much problem.
