Uh, how you gonna light a baby? With dramatic side light, beauty light - create lots of nice harsh shadows?

Good luck getting one this age to sit still for such photography. Best option is "flat" lighting - natural ambient or big reflectors a little ways out because during such shoots you are just click click click.

yeah nothing much has been going on here, jsp is dying

my monitor is calibrated, and its a good monitor
is I over exposed for any1 else?

oh and the focus seems to be the hand, doesn't seem right as they not on the same focal plane
what focal length was this shot at? seems pretty wide

I am shooting a 2month old this week, guess I should post a pic once I am done

I do know what is and isn't possible btw
it is flat because the overexposure (on my side anyway) has blown out all facial details, nothing to do with lighting style
hands are better exposed

50mm wide open partial metering and manual focus set on face... umbrella on the left and reflector on the right i do have to admit that i like little over exposed shots for kids specially with vignette and b&w but i guess its taste preferences ;)
been doing few newborn sessions and everyone was pretty much happy whit the results finally i was able to buy iMac 27' :)
jsp always was quite but last few months for really bad :F

very over exposed

that last portrait is so much better, the first one looks hacked with presets and/or adjustments, the second is quite nice to be honest.
