"tablet" editing sux, as the programmes are lighter versions and you cant do batch edits
the Wacom intuos are great (these are the original "tablets" have been around longer than the iPads etc and were always called tablets)
size depends on personal preference, some like them big for more control, some like them smaller as it requires less arm movement and is more comfortable

Only get a tablet if you really feel you need one. It's really nice necessary for a lot of people (since you can zoom in using photoshop to increase your accuracy with the mouse). Only pick one up if you feel you need it, or if you do tablet sketching/drawing/etc.

I had an expensive Intuos 4 Large a while back. I sold it since I didn't draw enough and didn't get to be good enough. I have a basic Wacom Bamboo tablet now from 2012, and it gets the job done for me. I think it was $70, and I hardly use it... when I do use it, it comes in handy in photoshop (but I haven't had to do photography editing with it at all yet... I'm new to the photography end of things).

pse11 has a quick mode, guided mode, and an expert mode to do whatever you want.
it's fairly cheap, but it lacks a few great tools given in ps. one being the pen tool, and another being able to select a specific color.

you can pay month to month, or an annual monthly plan for ps. you can also get a free 30 day trial i believe.
