hello all,
i am dog-sitting, over this weekend, at a beautiful plantation in north florida. today my girlfriend is going to drive up my camera equipment so i can do a short photo study of the places i see here.
its a truley gorgeous place. i have my own small house for the weekend but am spending most of my time in the main house tending to the 9 dogs.
ill be walking around snapping photos with my phone until my dslr arrives, or it starts pouring rain so bad that i cant leave the house; like it has all week.
heres some links to info about the plantation. most of the existing photos online focus on the old slave quarters. fun fact though: there are some very nice people working here that have worked here their entire lives and whose families have been a part of this plantation since post civil war sharecropping.
wiki:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/El_Destino_Plantation (only has info related to the old house and original property lines but is the same location)
http://floridamemory.com/items/show/40454 (old photo of the house im sitting in as i type)
http://www.floridamemory.com/items/show/24345 (very old photo of the entrance drive. nearly the same today aside from the sides of the road being dug out due to water runoff)
i will post photos together with my dslr, but until then, ill post some pics from my phone, sorry for quality. i hope you enjoy seeing this place as i do.
my crappy truck in front of the main house when i arrived yesterday. (theres a bmw x5 parked behind me heuehueheueh)
