And on a side note, just ordered a 55-300mm lens. Hopefully I can use it to reach out and take some further away shots.

nice colors in the 3rd. you should try also a -2 exposure correction to see whats coming up

What will the - correction do for the pictures? and do you mean in post or on the camera?

edit: I just realized the second and third pic are of the same spot. I kinda randomly took the second pic while riding around on our boat and i guess that happened to be where the sun was going down too.
