I'm looking for a camera (budget is sub $1000) that is good overall, isn't too big (size is a factor), but possibly supports lenses all the same (particularly for zooming & whatnot). I want the picture quality to be great, so that might mean good features (ex. nice anti-shake).

The point is for the gf... she's buying a camera... she just likes taking pictures everywhere, and wants something that's really nice but still idiot-proof...

some olympus pen series cameras meets all requirements, so do some of the sony NEX's
