I have always love photography, it is a beautiful art. I am finally of the financial situation to get a camera in order to participate in this art myself. :)

I have around $250 left over after things I had to take care of.

Can anyone recommend a good starter camera that I would be able to get?

Online shopping is fine, and record ability is always nice too :)

Up :p

I saw reviews for a nikon d3100, and saw one with good claimed condition for 300, does that sound okay?

basically start with any dslr and kit lens
suggest nikon as their entry lvl dslrs are better value
the d3100 is a perfect place to start

then learn about photograpy
what i said to the last guy:
start with the basics of composition and getting correct exposure
then learn about iso, aperture, shutterspeed and how they relate to exposure
once you are fimiliar and comftable with shooting on aperture or shutter priority (or even manual) then start looking at editing and shooting RAW

later on down the line by a better lens, 1st choice should be the 50mm f/1.8 its cheap, sharp, fun and will help you learn

I know the first two pf the things you listed, but I don't remember anything about iso, or aperture.
And do you recommend a site that I can read, and learn?

dont know prices for that cam atm, but what i will say is; DONT be fooled by bundle deals
all the stuff they add is low end crap stuff rather get the basic kit and add as you can

I know you just spend $450, But buy the 50mm 1.8

Fantastic lense, i have a 18-55 and a 55-300 and i havent touched them in a while cause I'm enjoying the 50mm too much. The focal depth is just to fun to play with and it allows you to shoot in much darker conditions with out having to boost your iso too much.
