The 85mm 1.8 :DD! Gotta say, I LOVE this lens so far. It was only about 40 degrees today, but I went and tested it out in a place I've been wanting to go for a while. Its this super dilapidated house (I dunno what it actually was though, its next to railroad tracks) that looks like it burned down or something. You feel like you need a tetanus shot before you step inside. And god was I terrified when my entire leg plunged through a part of the floor, lol. But I got out in one piece so its kay. Focal length took some getting used to, I didn't realize I'd need so much room. But man I love how sharp it is, and the bokeh is zomg. Thanks to everyone who gave me advice on what to get <3. Anyway enough rambling, heres the photo overload:

Ok this one was from earlier when I was waiting on a client in a coffee shop..wanted to test out the sneaky capabilities :P.

1stly congrats

now you realize how much more room you would need for the 135mm (certainly not great for indoor shots unless you in a studio or large room)

bokeh does look good

love 4 and 13 but why did you crop so tight?
really want to see the full name / Phillips
also want to see the top of the builing roof

did u get a Spyder and/or a new monitor?

I have just ordered this: http://www.dell.com/us/p/xps-8500/pd?oc=dxdnpx3shm&model_id=xps-8500 and it comes with the Dell UltraSharp U2410, so that will be my main photo editing monitor
cant wait to get it

Thanks! :D.

This house thing was teeny tiny, every time I went to shoot something I was backed up against something else, haha. In 13 I really wanted the weeds and the tracks where they are, so it ended up cutting off some of the building. In retrospect I probably should have tried another angle.

I got the Spyder, I havent gotten a monitor yet though.

Nice, congrats! Jealous, haha.

E: And yes about the 135, definitely not a lens Ill be getting in the near future.

you must hav noticed a huge difference in your colours now!?!?!?!?
calibration is far more important than the monitor

dont be afraid to do non standard crops, it doesnt only have to be 16:9, 16:10, 4:3 etc so maybe shoot a bit wider with the trackes etc where u want and then crop in post production

Yes actually! I had to calibrate twice, the first time I dont think I did it right. But now Im pretty confident in my colors. Another thing I love about this lens is that I seem to be getting better colors SOOC anyway, so thats very nice. Oh and the focus is so whisper quiet! Its craziness to me, haha.

True. Ill probably end up going back out there, it was one of my favorite shots so Id like to retake it. I imagine Ill be pressed up against the little house to do it, haha. Oh and I forgot a couple of photos:

Oh and btw, how much did you pay for the monitor? Amazon has them on sale right now for 406..not a bad price.

Thank you ^^

Yes, definitely. But I was mainly inspired by the location itself. If I could go to places like this everyday and take pictures I would.

I really wanted to take that thing home, haha. Actually there were a few things I wanted to take home but after I fell through the floor I just got out of dodge. Thank you!

Awesome! I LOVOOEOEOEOEO VEOVEVEV! going into old buildings! I don't get much opportunity, yet, but if I do, I jump on it! My first old building experience was a few years ago and I loved it. I enjoy seeing pictures of these. Awesome work, and congrats on the new les!
