my father got some decent dslr skills but he doesnt want to carry those big cameras all the time anymore so he is in search of a small compact camera right now. Do you have any advice what he could buy ? Price range is up to bout 300 €. It should be a cam without several objectives so he can put it in a small pocket so its posible to get it out very fast and doesnt have to carry those huge heavy dslr

Try the Canon G15, looks like a pretty good hybrid with manual controls.

yeah its an amzing camera
well i have used the g12 and its great so the new g15 will certainly be better
but it is above your budget i guess, alternatively look at the canon s100 or s110
