And Im torn as far as what glass I should spring for.

I could get a few lenses, like the 85mm, possibly upgrade my 50 to the 1.4, and the 100mm macro. Or I could get the 70-200 2.8L IS II only. That lens makes me happy in the pants, but I dunno if having one lens (plus my current 50mm 1.8) or an arsenal of lenses is better. Opinions?

This is gonna be completely preference. Personally I just have the 70-200 F/4 right now and I'm fine with it.

70-200 2.8L is nice. I'm a video guy, though, and have only used it for that. Personally, I like to have a few prime lenses in my kit as opposed to having one zoom (unless it's a "run-and-gun" shoot.). When I shoot DSLRs I prefer the Leica R series over L glass, but like Zomb said, it's all personal preference :D

I honestly think if you'll have the money, to go with the 70-200. An arsenal is nice, but if you buy those 3 and end up only using 1, you might regret not springing for the 70-200 while you had the extra money for it. At least, that's how I'd be.

Hmm! I forgot about tax, I won't get mine till April, if any. :D I need to buy things I need, so I'll most likely do that and skip the gear this round.

I would honestly go with the 70-200!!!! It's different, I assume you don't have anything like it, and I know you'll love it. I love mine, and it's only a f4.0 ... If I could have afforded the extra thousand bucks for the f stop difference I would have totally went for it!

Thanks all! ^^ I dont know anything about Leica, I googled Leica lenses and saw one with a $13,000 price tag, and got the hell out of dodge  They seem pretty expensive all around though.

I guess I was kind of looking for people to talk me out of the 70-200, its so damn expensive and Im so cheap D: But seems like everyone even loves the f/4..so I guess the choice is obvious.

@Chantal, thats the benefit of having kids, you get buku bucks back

would also say the 70-200
i have the 70-200 2.8L IS and i absolutely love it, even though its not the most used lens
get it while you can afford it, and later when u have smaller amounts of maney available you can go for the cheaper primes
both from experience, friends and other reports i would stick with the 50 f1.8, as way too many of the f1.4 version are soft

Yeah, I am very glad I got the 70-200. But seriously, if you can afford it, get the 2.8 one. I don't use it as much as the other lenses, but when I do use it, it's so fun! And I love the quality it has. I actually used it for shots I did with my two nephews outside in the fall, I loved how the pics turned out. Great outdoor lens as well! And the 2.8 would even be better cause you can most likely have an easier time using it inside.

My most used lens would probably be an all-round lens.. which I don't have. I am constantly switching lenses ><

I have the sigma 10-22. the 50mm 1.8 or whatever it's called. the basic lens you get when you buy your camera... and that's it lol oh and of course the 70-200. So... can't really say which one I use more often... honestly, probably the 18-55... is that what it is? I don't even remember since I haven't really used my camera in a while :S
