Hey guys, I finally got around to editing the shots my buddy and I took when we went out to Lake Tahoe earlier this year. Now, there are some problem's with the photo's, these were the first DSLR photo's (D7000) I have ever taken and I was way out of my league, basically just auto'd everything(well I only have 1 of my shots here and its of the flip with flare top center). I edited some of these and wanted to see what yall thought based on the originals. I've never had a single course on photography or editing, basically all self taught! I don't want to over process these since I want to possibly frame them at some point. (nothing crazy)

These shots aren't as sharp as I hoped but still, it's what I have to work with. I can provide the originals if you would like, but won't be till I get home since I forgot to add them on my flashdrive! DOH!

Flare top center, my editing skills aren't that great but can this be corrected?

Powder blasting

Here's a photo we had some passerby take of us, I added one of the edited and one ps'ing the boundary marker out, do you think I should get the rope out as well and maybe crop more of the left side off? thoughts?

Here's it with the stick

Thanks for the help!!!!

last 2 are facebook pics at best

#2 is a bit distracting and the angle of the photograph is unappealing at least to me. it takes a while to figure out what you're supposed to be looking at.

#1 though this could have some potential. it has a decent angle and a nice surrounding. all it lacks imo is the right crop (and some minor edits but i think it looks fine).

i would crop it so it looks something like this

but dont actually make it that size. as in crop your photo so the snow boarder is following the rule of thirds (http://i.imgur.com/kNsfu.jpg). try to do the least ammount of downsizing because i think it would look better if the snow boarder was bigger so that he takes up more of the photo because he is the main focal. and with your current crops he is a bit small.

edit:: at least thats how i would try to edit that

edit2:: could also try a center crop so hes in the center of the image, but i think you would lose the nice snow cloud.

Appreciate the feedback, if you got an email, I can send over the originals but let me tell you... there not much to look at. I will post the original pictures on here when I get home. I also tried to capture the natural background, not just us.

#1- Reason for the crop is there was serious flare at the top center and got most of it out. I loved the snow cloud it provided and wanted to keep that... otherwise I have a few different pictures I could've used for the focus on the actual flip.

I can crop #2 a bit more, I know its a bad angle but in all honesty... we just wanted to ride that fresh powder and not snap pictures.

I'll post up the originals in a bit

Thanks again!

Here are the original's, I would say I've done quite a bit but what do you all think. No they are not Pro pics or anywhere close, still want to save some memories from Tahoe.

unedited
