So I wanna start taking shots, seriously. I have a random numeric Sony Camera.

I have a $350CAN budget. Can I buy myself any starting Nikon/Canon Camera?
What should I look for?

I don't wanna buy lenses now, but lemme know folks!

Is a Nikon D800 any good fora beginner? My uncle has one and he says that it was his ex wife's so.. Pretty sure I could buy/bargain him, whatever, I don't know shit about this so I am waiting on you gus to help me out !

not sure about nikon but starting series for dslr canons are like the canon 550D aka canon rebel T series (t1i, t2i, t3i) i personally own the t2i and its excellent. although any good starting camera is going to wind you up 500-700$ for the body and a nother couple hundred for a decent lens. id look into getting a lens body kit for the t2i or t3i, it costs about 900$ and includes the body and a IS 18-55 lens which is a pretty decent lens for just starting out.

edit:: theres also another kit i believe that includes the 18-55 lens as well as a telephotozoom but its an icky lens. external focus and yea. if you plan on getting a telezoom lens it look into the 70-200 or 70-300 IS L USM, only costs about 1200-1900$ depending if you want IS or not.
