I´m going to do backpacking in New Zealand for 3 month and I would be very interested wether the southern or the nothern side is better for taking pictures.
Southern side seems to be very unpopulated but the northern side should be beatyful aswell. Did you have any experiences or even some impressions of New Zealand?
Im looking forward for answers.

I've been told by many people the southern island is the best for landscapes!

New Zealand is a beautiful country I really enjoy visiting the country because no matter what side or were you head to you'll always reach a beach and beautiful sceneries ... I stayed near Auckland so it was the populated area...

Have not been myself, but I would look at it the same way as any other nice country, if it's populated it may not be that pretty (or the pretty will be a hefty travelling distance) but if you are in or near an unpopulated area, then I bet you'll find some incredible views.
