Looking to buy my first dslr and i was thinking maybe this? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16830113267&nm_mc=KNC-GoogleAdwords&cm_mmc=KNC-GoogleAdwords-_-pla-_-NA-_-NA

seems like a boss camera for a beginner.
I would mostly be shooting photos of friends and family, my dog, nature, cars, and possibly action shots. Should I just buy a body and different lense or would this suite me perfect. I'm sick of using a camera phone for my main source of my photos!

Any input would be awesome!

seeing as you are totally new to photography and will be shooting on Auto or slowing learning the basics i would suggest you stick to the standard package
if you get really into it at a later stage then you can invest in lenses

It's a nice beginner camera, as for the lenses, I would suggest to wait until you really get into it and you know more about photography.

This is the camera I use as an beginner photographer. I absolutely love it. mine came with the 18-55mm and 55-200mm lenses. And those both have worked wonders for me.

How much did you buy the kit for? well the DSLR plus 2 lenses?

I just dont want to buy it if down the road, I get really into it and it doesnt produce the quality photos I want. Or will that all have to do with the lense rather then the body?

The only thing I don't like about the D3100 and the Canon T3 is that they're too simple. You're going to grow out of it fast. The rate of progression to where you're going to want to upgrade is going to come alot faster than if you invested a little bit more into like a D5100 or a T3i. That's just my opinion, because it happeend to me, haha

But if you grow out of photography you'll just have more money wasted.

The depreciation value for cameras and camera lenses is far less than that of most hobbies. Agree to disagree I guess
